HONGIK UNIVERSITY

DEPARTMENT OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

The Department of Chemical Engineering deals with the process of economically producing beneficial products by physically, chemically or biologically treating the substances or energy present in nature using the knowledge of various natural sciences accumulated by research and experience. It also seeks to identify basic phenomena, develop facilities, processes and products.

The required courses are designed to set up technical and economic principles for processes that change the composition, energy content, chemical state and physical state of matter, and to develop professional knowledge and judgment that can be applied to real problems.

We encourage logical thinking and creativity. In addition to acquiring basic knowlegdes by theoretical lectures.

In the field of chemical engineering, there are various fields such as bio-field, environmental field, energy field, electro-chemistry field, fine chemical field, device and process design field required for a new age, process automation by computer, process optimization for improving economy, and electronic information materials. Students gain knowledge and expertise in these areas through chemical engineering education.

Because chemical engineers can contribute in many industrial fields, there are a wide variety of fields to enter after graduation. The company is involved in energy-related companies, refineries, companies that develop and produce polymer materials, companies involved in biotechnology, companies manufacturing high-value-added fine chemicals, environment-related fields, semiconductors, designing processes, and programming software. There are graduates who are public officials and patent attorneys.

Graduates have contributed to improving and enhancing human cultural life in various fields such as industrial enterprises, research institutes, educational institutions, and government agencies such as large corporations, SMEs, and venture companies.
